The .mtv filename extension is the second filename extension that refers to the proprietary video file format container AMV. AMV is a video container modified from the AVI video format and is primarily associated with video enabled Chinese portable MP4 players. Video stream files with either the .amv or .mtv filename extension can be played back on these devices. To maintain a relatively low cost, these MP4/MTV players rely on this video format and inexpensive hardware rather than more common but expensive proprietary video playback formats.

The JP2 file extension, also known as JPEG2000, was created by the JPEG Committee in the year 2000. The JP2 succeeded the first JPEG Standard in 1992 which was cosine transform based. It features the use of a "wavelet-base", unlike its predecessor JPEG standards. This file format uses a different image compression method. The compression method involves altering certain sections of the image, in terms of quality reduction. This method of compression ensures smaller file sizes and optimal storage. The JP2 file format has made several improvements over the JPEG Standard since 1992. The JP2 files can make use of both the lossless and lossy compression techniques.

How to convert MTV to JP2

STEP 1

Select the image file in the MTV format to convert to the JP2 format, you can select a file from your computer or your Google Drive or Dropbox account.
