Icon File

The .ICO filename extension refers to the ICON image file format originally developed by Microsoft. The extension is used to represent computer icon images of varying sizes designed for the operating system Microsoft Windows. Its use today has extended to developing icons for programs designed using the Microsoft developer's suite Visual Studio and other applications. Similar to other device independent bitmap file formats, the ICON file format is also in the raster graphics class of image formats where each individual pixel is part of an orthogonal dot matrix data structure with support for a limited palette of color information. As a resource file, the .ico file format has its strength in contextual use. This allows for multiple icon images of different color depth or size to be stored within the resource file and used when appropriate.
PPM

Portable Pixmap Image File

The .ppm file extension is used for Portable PixMap format files and is intended to be an intermediate format that can be used in the development and conversion of other file formats. This format was specifically designed so that it could easily be exchanged between various platforms. It is very simple but not very storage efficient. Before the PPM format was introduced, Jef Poskanzer invented the PBM format in the year 1980 for transmission of monochrome bitmaps as ASCII text in email messages. He also developed a tool library for easy conversion of the PBM files to other graphical formats and vice versa. This library was called Pbmplus and was released in 1988. Later Poskanzer developed the PPM format along with the PGM format and the requisite tools that were added to Pbmplus.

How to convert ICO to PPM

STEP 1

Select the image file in the ICO format to convert to the PPM format, you can select a file from your computer or your Google Drive or Dropbox account.                            

STEP 2

Choose the PPM format from the drop-down list as the output format, and click the Convert button, you can convert up to 5 files at the same time and a maximum size of up to 500 MB.

STEP 3

Wait until your file is uploaded and converted into the PPM image format, you can download the converted file up to a maximum of 5 times, and can also delete the file from the Download page.
