When to split a PDF

Split when a portal asks for one section, when email size limits block a large file, or when you want to share only selected pages from a longer report.

Split vs compress vs merge

Split when you need separate files: one page each, odd/even pages as individual PDFs, or custom ranges in a ZIP. Compress shrinks the whole file while keeping all pages. Merge combines several PDFs into one. Use Extract Pages when you want the selected pages together in a single PDF.

Can I extract a single page from a PDF?

Use Every page or enter that page number as a custom range. Split downloads a ZIP with a separate PDF per file. Use Extract Pages if you want a single PDF instead.

Does splitting delete pages from my original?

No. Your original upload is unchanged. You download a ZIP of new PDFs for the pages or ranges you selected.

What if the PDF is password protected?

Unlock it first with Unlock PDF, then upload the unlocked file here to split.

The split file is still large: what next?

Run the result through PDF Compressor, especially if the pages are image-heavy scans.
