RealNetworks, an internet streaming Media Company, is credited as the developers and owners of the proprietary RealMedia multimedia container format. The filename extension .rm refers to this format which is used as an audio and video wrapper to distribute digital media content over the internet. The first version of this container was released in 1997 and has been popularized for its ability to unpack the digital stream while it is being downloaded over computer networks such as the internet. The format is platform agnostic and works equally well on Microsoft Windows as it does on Linux or Mac OS.

The .flv filename extension and the FLV file format are associated with Adobe System's flash player. It is a container format primarily used for content delivery over the internet and other computer networks. It is an open file format and supports delivery of audio and video streams through players that are compatible with the specification. Flash video, or FLV, has been popularized on the internet by video streaming websites that encode their video in this format. Most web browsers have support for the format through web browser plugins with the exception of Google chrome which has native support for the format.

How to convert RM to FLV

STEP 1

Select the video file in the RM format to convert to the FLV format, you can select a file from your computer or your Google Drive or Dropbox account.                            

STEP 2

Choose the FLV format from the drop-down list as the output format, and click the Convert button, you can convert up to 5 files at the same time and a maximum size of up to 500 MB.

STEP 3
